Najla Guthrie

Chief Executive Officer

Najla Guthrie is revolutionizing the way we treat and talk about wellness. Her extensive list of accomplishments include founding KGK Science, publishing over 50 papers in peer-reviewed journals, becoming the CEO of Wellbeing Digital Sciences, and her research on the effects of citrus juices and their constituent flavonoids on breast cancer cells.

Najla is a global leader in the nutraceutical and emerging psychedelic industry with a focus on how the development of natural compounds can fundamentally change the way we treat and prevent mental illness. She continues to present and speak at a global level, lobby for the advancement of policy changes in the supplement and cannabis industries, and lead the team at Wellbeing Digital Science and KGK Science.

Terry Zimaro

Chief Financial Officer

Mr. Zimaro is a Chartered Professional Accountant who brings over 20 years of public and private company experience in a wide range of finance functions, in particular specializing in high-growth environments, within various industries including psychedelics. He has enabled companies to maximize profitability, operational efficiencies, and enterprise value.

Mr. Zimaro is the co-founder and partner of Weller & Zimaro Chartered ProfessionalAccountants (WZ CPA) since its inception in 2014 and has led the CFO consulting division of WZ CPA, which provides CFO consulting services to several industries, including the psychedelics and mental health and wellness sectors.

Andrew Charrette

VP - Regulatory Affairs

Leading Regulatory Affairs and Psychedelic Research at KGK Science, Andrew brings extensive experience in clinical research and in-depth knowledge of the nutraceutical, food, cannabis and drug regulations in North America. Since joining KGK in 2013, Andrew has led over 100 submissions to regulatory authorities including clinical trial applications and product registration submissions.

Brendan Purdy

Director

Mr. Purdy is a practicing securities lawyer focused on the resource, life sciences, and technology sectors. In his private practice, he has developed extensive experience with respect to public companies, capital markets, mergers and acquisitions, and other transactions fundamental to the Canadian junior equity markets. Prior to receiving his J.D. from the University of Ottawa, Mr. Purdy completed a Bachelor of Management and Organizational Studies degree from the University of Western Ontario, majoring in finance and administration. Mr. Purdy has served as director of several public companies.

Natasha Raey

Director

Ms. Raey is a serial entrepreneur and consultant whose current work is focused on the health care, cannabis and wellness industries. Ms. Raey has managed the planning and development of large-scale health centres in both Vancouver and Toronto. In 2017, she opened Cadence Health Centre, a team-based multidisciplinary health centre and pharmacy in downtown Toronto. In 2014, she co-founded SheTalks Global, an annual speaker series and conference showcasing influential women in diverse fields. Most recently, in 2019, Ms. Raey founded Bloom & Elix, an enterprise developing wellness and brain health supplements for women. She also serves as an independent business, marketing and public relations consultant for a number of social enterprises, public institutions and non-government organizations. Ms. Raey holds a masters of health administration from The University of British Columbia, and BSc, molecular biology and biochemistry (honours), from Simon Fraser University.

Mohammad Sharifi

Director

Mr. Sharifi has extensive experience in marketing and digital communications which has spanned across the consumer products industry. Mr. Sharifi has also held various senior marketing roles at several companies, including Telus Telecommunication where he was responsible for the growth and marketing of their business. Mohammad joins at a key point in the Company’s growth and his knowledge and experience will be vital as we continue our plans to fundamentally change the mental health industry by providing the research, education, and distribution needed to make innovative treatments accessible.

Dr. Corey Hilmas

Advisory Board Chair

Dr. Hilmas currently also serves as the Chief Regulatory Officer of the Company’s wholly owned  subsidiary, KGK Science Inc. He is a respected scientist, medical doctor, and former federal food regulator  in the United States (“US”). After having completed his medical degree and doctorate in toxicology,  working as a principal investigator for many years, and serving on behalf of the US government at the Food  and Drug Administration (“FDA”), Dr. Hilmas combines his unique medical and scientific skillset with  extensive U.S. regulatory training. He served as an New Dietary Ingredients notification reviewer and as a  branch chief within the Division of Dietary Supplement Programs at the FDA.  

In addition to working on enforcement matters related to supplement labeling, claims, good manufacturing  practices and fraud, he also served as an expert witness for the FDA and Department of Justice, resulting  in an FDA Award of Merit from former FDA Commissioner Margaret Hamburg. As a recognized  regulatory expert with intimate knowledge of the dietary supplement industry, Dr. Hilmas has made  significant contributions to building and shaping the regulatory landscape through drafting over 65  comments to multiple US federal and state agencies as well as global food health directorates on topics  ranging from soy to supplements and cannabidiol, to changing regulatory frameworks overseas.

Dr. Quang Henderson

Dr. Quang Henderson is the Founder and Medical Director of MindScape Ketamine & Infusion Therapy, PLLC. He is a licensed Board-Certified Emergency Physician with over 20 years of experience in utilizing ketamine. Dr. Henderson co-founded Neighbors Emergency Centers and previously served on its Board and as Medical Director for several of its facilities. He is passionate about making intravenous ketamine a viable option to those suffering with severe depression, bipolar depression, post traumatic stress disorder, psychiatric disorders and chronic pain. Quang attended Texas A&M University pursuing a degree in Biochemistry. He obtained his Doctor of Medicine degree from The University of Texas Medical Branch. Dr. Henderson completed his Emergency Medicine Residency at UT Houston Health Science Center/Hermann Hospital. He currently also holds the position of Chairperson of Clinical Innovation Council for Ketamine One.

Dr. Dennis Filips

Dr. Dennis Filips is the principal founder and Chief Medical Officer of Innovative Trauma Care. Dr. Filips, a trauma surgeon, retired from the Canadian Forces after 20 years of service and completing tours in Afghanistan, Bosnia, and the Golan Heights. He completed an Executive MBA program at the Telfer School, University of Ottawa in May 2020. Dennis was an Assistant Adjunct Professor at the National Defense University in Washington DC where he taught Healthcare Industry Studies. He also worked as a general/trauma surgeon in Edmonton and Toronto and as a course director for Advanced Trauma Life Support and Tactical Medicine courses for the military and tactical police units. Dr. Filips completed a trauma fellowship at Sunnybrook & Women’s College Health Sciences in Toronto, Ontario in 2002, his general surgery residency at the University of Toronto in 2001 and medical school at Queen’s University in 1991.

Dr. Loree K. Sutton

Dr. Sutton is a lifelong public servant, physician and retired brigadier general who was the Army's highest ranking psychiatrist. She is the co-founder of Threshold GlobalWorks, LLC; the founding commissioner of  the NYC Department of Veterans' Services; and, in her current position as CEO, Veteran Services USA,  has devoted over 35 years of service and leadership to the nation and New York. Sutton's decorated military  career includes earning a Bronze Star for her actions in combat while deployed to Operation Desert Storm.  Selected as a White House Fellow, the nation's premier leadership program, and honored by the National  War College as a distinguished graduate, she also commanded the Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center at  Fort Hood, TX during the height of Operation Iraqi Freedom hostilities.

Serving as the founding director, Defense Centers of Excellence for Psychological Health and Traumatic  Brain Injury, Loree pioneered integrative approaches for building resilience, enhancing recovery and  fostering community reintegration. Spanning decades of service in the public and private sectors, her  visionary leadership has yielded transformational change which continues to improve the lives of veterans,  families, caregivers and survivors.

Dr. Michael Ho

Dr. Michael Ho serves as the director of Safe Sleep Anesthesia in Houston, Texas. He is also the course director of Anesthesiology Consultants in Houston, Texas, with an accumulation of over 20,000 hours of anesthesia instruction to his credit. Dr. Ho was Staff Physician at the University of Texas in the Department of Anesthesiology at Memorial-Hermann Hospital for 10 years and has over 20 years of teaching and working as an anesthesiologist. He has received many awards for excellence in teaching at the Baylor College of Medicine and The University of Texas Medical Branch. Dr. Ho graduated from Cornell University with B.A. in Biochemistry and went on to attain an M.D. at Washington University School of Medicine, with his postgraduate training in pediatrics and anesthesiology. Adding to his impressive resume of education, teaching, and medical practice of anesthesiology, Dr. Ho also has amassed 15 publications, 7 onsite courses and 17 webinars. 

Dr. Ravi Bains

Dr. Ravi Bains earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology prior to studying medicine in his home province at the University of Manitoba. He completed a psychiatric residency at Dalhousie University, where he went on to complete a fellowship in Intensive Short Term Dynamic Psychotherapy. After graduating in 2006, Dr. Bains has practiced as an inpatient psychiatrist and a psychotherapist. He has developed a passion for promoting body/mind/spirit health, ‘deprescribing’ and working with trauma.

Acutely aware of the limits of conventional psychiatry, Ravi has also developed a strong interest in the potential of psychedelic medicines such as ketamine and psilocybin. He is currently CMO for Wayfound Mental Health Group as well as ATMA Journey Centers.
